Eligibility Criteria:

Course Eligibility Criteria

  • Age Limit: * Minimum: You must be at least 17 years old as of December 31, 2026.
    • Maximum: Generally 35 years, though some states and private institutions may have no upper age limit or a slightly lower one (e.g., 25–28 years).
  • Educational Qualification:
    • 10+2 Completion: You must have passed your Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent from a recognized board (CBSE, ICSE, or State Board).
    • Mandatory Subjects: You must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB), and English individually.
    • Minimum Marks: * General/OBC/EWS: Minimum 45% to 50% aggregate in PCB subjects.
      • SC/ST: Minimum 40% to 45% (5% relaxation is common).
  • Medical Fitness: Candidates must be medically fit and often need to provide a fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner.

Important Exceptions & Notes

  • Gender Restrictions: While most B.Sc. Nursing courses are co-educational, AIIMS and the Military Nursing Service (MNS) currently restrict their B.Sc. (Hons) Nursing programs to female candidates only.
  • Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing: If you already have a GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) Diploma, you are eligible for the “Post-Basic” track, which is a 2-year degree to upgrade your credentials.
  • Open Schooling: Candidates from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) or State Open Schools are also eligible, provided they had the required Science subjects.
